Junior/Senior - Experience and $17 to $22 per hour

The firm's owner is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), in which you will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced accounting professional and be part of a team that thrives on excellence and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Sophomore to Senior standing: We have positions available for both unpaid and paid interns, depending on your academic level, availability, soft skills and hard skills. Unpaid interns will be closely supervised via four video meetings per week (M/Tu/W/Th).
  • Strong interest in learning: You don't need prior accounting experience, but a passion for learning, technology and financial analysis is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail: Accounting is all about precision, processes and organization. We value meticulous work.
  • Good communication skills: There is potential that you'll be interacting with clients, so clear and professional communication is a must.
  • Tools for the job: You will need a laptop with the ability to use Chrome/Firefox/Safari/Edge and access to high speed internet for wired or wireless connectivity.

As an accounting intern at RTS, you will have the chance to develop essential skills that will set you on a path to a successful career in accounting. You will gain hands-on experience in a variety of accounting functions, including but not limited to:

  • Understanding of Accounting Concepts.

    Learn and apply fundamental accounting principles such as the double-entry method, accrual basis, cash basis, capitalization, and other Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Gain practical insights into how these principles are crucial in recording and reporting financial transactions accurately.

  • QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, and other third-party accounting applications.

    Learn to navigate and operate these essential tools that are widely used in the accounting industry.

  • Daily accounting operations.

    Gain practical experience in transaction categorizing, bank reconciliations, payroll, cash management, and financial reporting.

  • Client meetings and client data entry.

    Learn how to effectively interact with clients and enter financial and non-financial data accurately.

  • Email correspondence.

    Develop professional communication skills through email correspondence with clients.

The application deadline was November 30, 2023.

Selected applicants will be required to complete a short written exam, to measure technical skills and an oral exam, which will assess both technical and soft skills. These will be conducted virtually. These exams will help us determine the most suitable placement for you. We value you your time so you will receive a decision within 48 hours of your oral exam.
